Dean Nilo T. Divina is one of the most successful alumni of the University of Santo Tomas where he finished Cum Laude in Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science in 1985 and Magna Cum Laude in Bachelor of Laws in 1989. He graduated as Class Valedictorian and Rector’s Awardee for Academic Excellence in the same year. As a student in the UST Faculty of Civil Law, he authored various articles which were published in the UST Law Review.
Dean Divina also obtained a post-graduate diploma in International Tax Law at the Robert Kennedy College in Switzerland in 2004 and attended a post-graduate course on International Financial Law at the Oxford University in 2005.
Dean Divina started his career in 1990 as a Clerk of Court of the Regional Trial Court of Pasig Branch 154. In 1993, he moved on to become the youngest General Manager and Executive Adviser to the Board of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. In 2002, breaking records yet again, he became the youngest Executive Vice-President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of the Equitable PCI Bank.
He is currently the Director of the United Coconut Planters Bank and the incumbent Dean of the UST Faculty of Civil Law. He holds the distinction of being the youngest Law Dean ever appointed in UST. Dean Divina also serves as Secretary-General of the Philippine Association of Law Schools.
The founder and managing partner of the biggest Thomasian law firm in the country – Divina and Uy Law Offices – Dean Divina practices General Counseling, Banking and Finance, Corporate Litigation, Corporate Take-Over, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Re-organization and Restructuring.
Dean Divina is a Bar Reviewer in Commercial Law at the UST Faculty of Civil Law, Lex Review Center, and Cosmopolitan Review Center. He is also a Lecturer in the Supreme Court administered Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Program (MCLE). He is the author of Handbook on Commercial Law (2010 revised edition; 2005 edition), published by CIBI Information, Inc. and distributed by Central Bookstore.
